This week, I had the pleasure of visiting with students during Tech Day 2011 at the State capitol in Springfield.  I was very impressed by the dedication the students displayed through their exhibits.  Their work impresses upon us legislators the importance of developing plans to meet each school’s technological needs. Three schools from my district participated in this year's Tech Day, Lindblom Math & Science Academy, Richards Career Academy and Haines Elementary School.

Technology can be a powerful tool in the classroom to enhance and accelerate student achievement; however, some people don't fully realize the extent to which technology can impact students and teachers. As people better understand what the information age makes possible in the classroom, they realize that if students are to be prepared for the 21st Century, they must have access to the latest technologies.

Haines Elementary School students and instructors worked on "Hypermedia Language Arts- A Technology Project."

Richards Career Academy Students created a "Historical Figure Glog."

The students at Lindblom Math & Science Academy created a musical technological project titled "Mozart would love this! Music Composition in the 21st Century."
