ChiBlockBuilder is Chicago’s new program to encourage the purchase and redevelopment of City-owned vacant land in line with community priorities. Potential uses for City-owned land include side yards for adjacent neighbors, community open spaces such as gardens or plazas, housing developments, and commercial developments. Through an online portal and universal application, ChiBlockBuilder streamlines the sale of City-owned vacant land to residents, community groups, non-profit organizations and developers.
