Hunter HealthFairFlyer 2025

CHICAGO Returning for its 21st year, State Senator Mattie Hunter is inviting residents to her annual Family Health and Fitness Fair on Saturday, Aug. 2.

“Each year this event grows larger to provide more and more families with the opportunity to get ready for the new school year,” said Hunter (D-Chicago). “This event ensures our neighbors have access to the resources they need to succeed while enjoying the last bit of summer with entertainment, healthy activities and time with family and friends.”

Hunter’s 21st annual Family Health and Fitness Fair will be held Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Illinois Institute of Technology campus in Siegel Field north of S.R. Crown Hall at 33rd and State streets. Students heading back to school can receive a free school physical from St. Bernard’s Mobile Health Unit with a parent or guardian present, a haircut compliments of the Kenny Williams-Dudley Beauty College, and take home a book bag full of school supplies.

This large event will feature free health screenings, including kidney and diabetes screenings from the National Kidney Foundation, eye exams from the Illinois Eye Institute and Illinois College of Optometry, and asthma screenings from Mobile Cares Chicago. The Illinois Secretary of State’s office will be on site offering state and REAL IDs, as well as vehicle plate stickers for applicable fees, and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office will provide free electronics recycling and medicine disposal. Entertainment will be provided by the Jesse White Tumblers and Fre2Dance Line Dancers.
