CHICAGO – The Whole Foods in Englewood is closing, and State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) is concerned about the impact it will have on the community.
The area was considered a food desert prior to the health food store’s opening in September 2016. The city provided over $10 million to finance its development.
CHICAGO – The Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund application recently opened, and State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) is encouraging homeowners who have been impacted by COVID-19 pandemic to apply.
“A lot of people have fallen behind on their mortgage payments due to COVID-19 and could benefit greatly from this program,” Hunter said. “This program ensures homeowners much-needed relief and can help them avoid debt and even foreclosure.”
CHICAGO – State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) stood alongside Governor JB Pritzker and others to announce a $3 million investment in HIRE360’s new training and development center in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood.
It previously received $550,000 in funding through the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program.
CHICAGO – State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) stood alongside Governor JB Pritzker and others Tuesday evening to celebrate Harold Washington’s 100th birthday at the library dedicated in his name. She also announced that a statue will be built in his honor.
“Harold Washington mentored me when I was first getting into state politics,” Hunter said. “He was an incredible man and a pioneer in Illinois government.”
