CHICAGO – State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) stood alongside Governor JB Pritzker and others to announce a $3 million investment in HIRE360’s new training and development center in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood.

It previously received $550,000 in funding through the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

CHICAGO – State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) stood alongside Governor JB Pritzker and others Tuesday evening to celebrate Harold Washington’s 100th birthday at the library dedicated in his name. She also announced that a statue will be built in his honor.

“Harold Washington mentored me when I was first getting into state politics,” Hunter said. “He was an incredible man and a pioneer in Illinois government.”

SPRINGFIELD – Building upon the General Assembly’s commitment to budget in a responsible, equitable way that benefits communities in all corners of the state, the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus passed a budget and tax relief plan that puts money back to Illinois families and organizations – two proposals State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) was proud to support. She released the following statement:

“Thanks to this package, I am excited the state is moving toward long-term economic growth and stability. This budget and tax relief plan will provide significant relief to Illinois residents through refund initiatives, public safety investments and health care improvement.

“We have done a lot of work to promote equity in the health care sector, and I am ready to see the execution of those initiatives.

“I am glad that working families will get a much needed break. The freeze of the 1% grocery sales tax and suspension of the scheduled increase of the gas tax, in addition to the increase of the property tax rebate, will do wonders for the state economy.”

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) is proud to support a more than $1.8 billion inflation-busting relief plan that would wipe out state taxes on back-to-school shopping and groceries, stop higher gas taxes and deliver income and property tax refund checks statewide.

The plan was proposed by Senate Democrats Friday, in an effort to continue the General Assembly’s commitment to a responsible and equitable budget for all Illinoisans.
